Daycare center "Kleine Traber" in Berlin - Lichtenberg

Where playing and learning are the focus, warmth is a must

On November 1st, 2013, the time had finally come. After a construction period of one and a half years, a four-story new building was erected on the site of Treskowallee 135. 179 children were able to conquer their new, modern home, which was named "Little Trotters" in reference to the Karlshorst trotting track located in the immediate vicinity. Children are looked after here until they start school. According to the company, the focus of the work with the children is the "education for sustainable development" approach in mixed-age groups. All the better that sustainable, efficient and valuable SmartHeat heat pump technology was also chosen.

The youngest day care center of the Berliner Volkssolidarität is located in the Lichtenberg district and integrates the family center "Families on the Move". The choice of heating system is also "on the move" here. Two air/water heat pumps of the then type SmartHeat aero 080 were planned and implemented. It is particularly difficult to find suitable sources in the middle of large cities, as underground space is used and large areas are not available. This is where air/water solutions come in. With SmartHeat heat pumps, outputs of up to 160 kW can now be covered with just one device – and this purely from fresh air. For the daycare center mentioned, a cascade connection of 2 SmartHeat aero 080s was chosen, which, with a total area of 6.75 m², are located in the nearby outdoor area.

Air heat pumps from the SmartHeat aero series can heat, prepare hot water and also cool. With impressive outputs of 30 kW and above, they are available for projects such as daycare centers, car dealerships, commercial and industrial halls. A suitable location, possibly even on the roof, can be quickly found to integrate the economical system into the heating system.
