Small heat pump – big impact
Homburg is the district capital of the Saarpfalz district and, with around 42 thousend inhabitants, the third largest city in Saarland. In addition to numerous other leisure activities, the Homburg combined swimming pool is also located here, which, in addition to its bathing operation with several pools, also offers an extensive sauna area with Japanese-inspired architecture. This makes the "KOI" a popular attraction for young and old in the region.
In terms of energy, the KOI relies on SmartHeat, among other things. A special classic 013 WW absorbs the unwanted heat from the cold pool as source energy and uses it to cool it to the desired temperature of 15 °C. The heat pump operation then supplies the warm pool, using most of this energy. This means that it can be kept at a temperature of 35 °C with significantly reduced energy consumption.
