Heat from wastewater

It is estimated that our wastewater contains enough energy to heat 2 - 4 million homes nationwide. SmartHeat heat pumps also use the thermal energy contained in wastewater. Implemented, for example, at the Kurt Ritter sports and family center in Berlin.

At first glance, a completely inconspicuous green container stands on one side of the Kurt Ritter sports field. Inside it is a system for generating energy from wastewater, which was unique in Berlin in 2011 due to its new design. The district mayor at the time, Franz Schulz, said that in order to realize the system, "many hurdles had to be overcome" and that it was an "excellent technology" that had to be used.
